CHI Provides Better, Cost-Effective Network and SAN Solutions to Ross Environmental Services
Ross Environmental Services, a technologies provider in hazardous and industrial waste management based in Elyria, Ohio, was a CISCO shop. When the time came to refresh their switching and routing infrastructure, they were planning to stick with CISCO—until John Thome, executive vice president at CHI Corporation, entered the conversation.
“John and CHI came to us and said: We’re local. We’ll take better care of you. We’ll make sure the products exceed your expectations and we’ll provide support—and we’ll do all of this while saving Ross money,” said Benjamin West, IT manager at Ross Environmental Services.
Choosing to make the switch and consider new Networking solutions from CHI was a major shift but one with a significant return on investment. CHI helped Ross realize an infrastructure with greater capacity and performance dollar for dollar than what CISCO proposed with the added benefit of CHI’s local sales and engineering team to help with the implementation, knowledge transfer and ongoing support as needed.
The network project was such a success for Ross Environmental Services that they chose to work with CHI on their next mission critical system refresh: a new SAN solution from Nimble Storage. Ross Environmental Services had been a longtime IBM shop but because of the success with the Networking project took CHI’s guidance on moving to an unfamiliar platform. The goal was to increase their storage performance while keeping costs low but still maintaining that reliability that comes from a tier 1 storage vendor. CHI and the Nimble SAN met the challenge.
“John took most of the fear out of the purchase. He brought his team in to prove CHI’s solutions would work out of the box with no additional costs,” said West. “He did his homework, knew our joint reputation was on the line, and delivered. There was no doubt that if we did have an issue, we’d get it resolved right away.”
Organizations like Ross Environmental Services deal with two usual bottlenecks: time and labor. CHI put in place solutions from Extreme Networks and Nimble Storage designed to offset both by improving operational efficiency, allowing greater organizational agility, and streamlining data access. In addition, once CHI partners with a company like Ross Environmental Services, CHI becomes the organization’s IT solutions provider, available to answer questions and provide first-class support.
“Before talking to John, I’d have never considered these new networking and SAN solutions. We’re better off now having chosen to work with CHI,” said West.
